Hosted by ATÖLYE Architecture, Unfold was launched at our Istanbul hub in 2022 to explore the processes and power of design and architecture. Through inspiring stories and innovative ideas, Unfold aims to showcase the transformative potential of design and architecture and provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
In our third episode of Unfold’s Dubai adventure, we welcome Faysal Tabbarah, the 2023 NPUAE Curator and Associate Dean at the College of Art, Architecture, and Design at the American University of Sharjah (AUS). Join us for a conversation between Faysal Tabbarah and Güray Oskay, Director of Architectural Design at ATÖLYE, exploring valuable insights into the development of Faysal’s architectural practice, and focusing on the story of ‘Aridly Abundant’ for the National Pavilion UAE’s participation at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition and how it challenges our perceptions of aridity by exploring the untapped potential of arid environments as spaces of abundance, showcasing cutting-edge architectural possibilities within the UAE’s desert plateaus, wadis, and coastal plains.

قوتها. من خلال قصص ملهمة وأفكار مبتكرة، يهدف “أونفولد” إلى عرض الإمكانات التحويلية للتصميم والعمارة وتوفير منصة للحوار والتعاون ذات قيمة.
في الحلقة الثالثة من مغامرة “أونفولد” في دبي، نرحب بفيصل طبارة، القيم الفني للجناح الوطني لدولة الإمارات عام 2023 وعميد مشارك وأستاذ عمارة مشارك في كلية العمارة والفن والتصميم في الجامعة الأميركية في الشارقة .انضم إلينا لمحادثة بين فيصل طبارة وغوراي أوسكاي، مدير التصميم المعماري في أتوليه، لاستكشاف رؤى قيمة حول تطوير ممارسته المعمارية، مع التركيز على قصة ” وفرة قاحلة” المشاركة للجناح الوطني لدولة الإمارات في المعرض الدورة الـ 18 من المعرض الدولي للعمارة في بينالي البندقية وكيف تحدى النظرة السائدة حول الجفاف، مسلطًا الضوء على إمكانات البيئات القاحلة كمساحات وافرة. يبرز المعرض ممارسات معمارية عصرية واعدة ضمن الهضاب الصحراوية والوديان والسهول الساحلية في الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
