ABOUT

ATÖLYE is a community-powered creative services organization. Through strategy and design, we help organizations tackle complex challenges and create lasting impact.

With a diverse ecosystem and our community-powered approach to design, we provide individuals, teams, and organizations with opportunities to build relationships, exchange ideas, and collaborate on worthy challenges that aim for long-term impact.

ATÖLYE means “a workshop or studio, especially one used by an artist or designer” in Turkish. It comes from the French word Atelier, and we believe it reflects the prototyping mindset and creative spirit of our work, spaces and community.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

ATÖLYE started as an academic spin-off project with ties to Stanford University’s d.school and New York University’s Tisch ITP, hence acquiring a strong inclination towards strategic design with a social impact mindset. Since 2013, ATÖLYE has traversed through a journey of creating community-driven approaches to design and innovation.

Today, with a core team of over 60 multidisciplinary designers and creatives and a surrounding community of over 200 creatives, we tackle design challenges across many sectors on multiple scales. Through our fluid system, with a clear intent of transdisciplinarity, we love addressing wicked problems that deal with shifting paradigms, stakeholder complexity, and emergent processes.

Our Team and Community

We are a dynamic and multidisciplinary team nested within a wider creative network. Our team is made up of individuals with unique skill sets and aspirations, developing and progressing through collaboration and the wider creative network to which we belong.

THE KYU COLLECTIVE

In 2019, ATÖLYE joined the kyu Collective. kyu (pronounced “Q”) is a collective of leading-edge creative companies that come together to understand, connect, and explore the edges of what our societies need now and what they’ll need in the decades to come. Together with fellow kyu members across the globe, we embrace the challenges of our time to solve the world’s most complex problems and to be a source of creativity to propel our economies and societies forward.

ATÖLYE BECOMES A B-CORP

We all leave our mark on the world, why not make it a beautiful one?

We are a B Corp. We believe businesses can no longer ignore people and the planet. That is why, in every endeavor, we do our best to make our business a force for good.

Each year, we evaluate our impact on our team, community, partners, clients, and the environment through B Lab’s meticulous assessment process. Since 2019, we have been proudly able to call ourselves a B Corporation—but this is just the beginning of our journey.

So, what exactly does this mean for us? It means that we are going to be kept accountable for decisions that we make within ATÖLYE. It means we are going to make a commitment to face ourselves, identify how we can be better, and strive towards changing the way we work in a way that benefits both the people and the planet. We believe that this is no longer just a responsibility, but a necessity.
