Unfold is back with a twist to end the year! On December 12th at ATÖLYE Istanbul, in collaboration with ATÖLYE Architecture & XXI, we’re kicking things off with a hands-on workshop, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion. Together, we’ll explore the question: How can a game help us reimagine our cities?

Workshop: City Making 101
📅 Time: 5:00 PM
Participants will play City Making 101, a newly published game designed to empower everyone to engage in the design of their cities. This interactive experience combines role-playing with practical insights, allowing players to co-imagine, debate, and build consensus on design guidelines for public space projects. The workshop will also incorporate real-life urban challenges from the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA), bringing ATÖLYE’s participatory design approach to life through play.

Panel Discussion: Gamification in City-Making

Following the workshop, join Alexis Şanal, creator of City Making 101, along with İdil Bayar, Elif Durgun from IPA, and Güray Oskay, Director of ATÖLYE Architecture, for a panel discussion. Together, they will explore how gamification can open new pathways for participatory city-making, offering fresh perspectives on designing urban solutions.
