“Courageous, creative work begins below the ground.” CreativeMornings January theme is “Roots.” Our guest this month is Seda Özen Bilgili.

 

Seda Özen Bilgili entered Mimar Sinan University in 1995. As a student, she made architectural drawings for archaeological excavation in Urfa Akarçaytepe within the scope of rescue excavations coordinated by METU TAÇDAM in 1999. She worked as a research editor of the 2000 Istanbul Special Issue of Atlas Magazine and as a writer in various issues of this magazine.

 

In 2001, she made architectural drawings of an archaeological excavation at Topkapı Palace. She played an active role in varied restoration projects including those of Sultanahmet Mosque and Hagia Sophia Tombs. Later in 2006, together with her sister M. Architect – Restorer Sema Özen Toth and her father, Civil Engineer Kemal Özen; she established Özen Architecture Engineering Ltd. Company and they are still carrying out antiquities restoration projects and masonry building restoration applications, wood workshops and wooden building restoration applications in their company.
